Winter Snow – Bramley

The first snow of the winter finally arrived and there wasn’t much of the white stuff.

A sunny morning was forecast, after last nights flurry,so I was up early to grab a few shots before the thaw set in.

I ventured out at 07:15 am , thinking I would be one of the first to be at the far side of Wickersley Woods , Bramley……………. Wrong.

The local dog walkers don’t hang about around here and the virgin snow did not stay that way for long. Here are a couple of shots I took before breakfast.

QR Code

I have just started experimenting with QR codes. They are becoming very popular , due to the availability of QR code generators and readers on various brands of smart phones.
Here is one that is a link to my website ,but they can be used to write notes and articles as well as adverts.

A trip to Monsal Dale

I had planned to spend some time creating a number of long exposure images of the weir at Mosal Head. The day started brightly,it was a cold frosty day, but with some lovely winter sunshine and blue skies.

I set up to shoot a 4 minute exposure, using a Lee 10 stop ND filter. It was at this point I experienced a load of trouble with the wireless remote shooting multiple images. To cut a long story short this took about 30 mins to resolve,it was faulty, the wires in the link cable were short circuiting.

By this time the blue skies had long gone and the weather was changing. There was now an another enemy, rain drops. These were on the filter, and showed up on the first test shot.Hoping all was not lost I sat with my finger on the shutter release, for those agonising 4 minutes, with my woolly hat shielding the top of the camera.

I got the image, without the clouds. I have had to invest in another remote trigger on my return home. Ah well it will save the old knee caps, when perched at the side of a fast flowing river.

Wedding – Becky & Dave

  • November 11th 2011 - York

The city of York was a great location for the wedding of Becky & Dave. The couple married at the registry office at Clifton Moor and formal photographs were taken outside York Minster. The couple had impromptu photographs taken, as they strolled through the cobbled streets, to their reception venue , Pitcher & Piano , a waterfront location adjacent the River Ouse.

The merchandise was photographed over 2 days in the studio at GJ Photography and on location at Hillsborough.

Jeff,Glynn and myself covered the photoshoots.
